ABOUT THE UNIT
This Department has been effective since the inception of the Tema Office. It has been manned by various officers including Mr. Abraham Fletcher and Mr. Henry Ayeste both District Directors of Education.

VISION STATEMENT
The unit seeks to be among the best Metropolitans/Districts in Ghana in the collection and provision of quality data on Pre-Tertiary schools in the Tema Metropolitan area.
MISSION STATEMENT
To facilitate, collect and provide quality data on Pre-Tertiary Education in order to assist the Metro Director to plan, assess education, evaluate and make informed decisions on education delivery in the Metropolis.
FUNCTIONS OF THE UNIT
- Collection of statistical data on pupils, teachers and staff in Basic Schools, Second Cycle Schools and the Metro Education Office.
- Provision of data for administrative purpose and also to various organizations on request.
- Assisting the Metro Director to use the collected data to plan, assess education, evaluate and make informed decisions on education delivery in the Metropolis.
- Organizations of workshops on school census for heads of Schools (Private/Public).
- Infrastructural facilities for both the Municipal Office and Public Schools.
- Keeping of inventory of Metro Office equipment/items, land properties – Bungalows and School buildings and vehicles for both the Metro Directorate Office and Schools.
